Join Difability as an organisation

Membership is free for organisations of any size, from companies and charities to community groups. Recognition comes later, when you are ready.

What happens

Create your account
Your details and your organisation’s. We check the organisation on its register, or from its documents when it has none.
Confirm your email address
Open the link we send you.
Show you act for the organisation
We confirm this, normally within two working days.
Sign the Difability Commitment
Name the person responsible for keeping it.
Receive your member number
A certificate, and a record anyone can check.

Have ready your organisation’s register number, if it has one, and its website.

We recognise that disability and long-term health conditions can create real barriers.
We believe disability does not mean inability.
We commit to recognising people’s different abilities, listening to individual needs, removing unnecessary barriers and creating genuine opportunities for inclusion, participation, employment and enterprise.
We will seek evidence of progress, listen when we fall short and continue improving.

Read the member code

Keep the Difability Commitment in how your organisation works.
Keep the name and contact details of your responsible person up to date.
Describe your membership accurately: say Difability Member, and use Recognised or Certified only while you hold that level.
Show your member number and certificate only while your membership is active.
Do not upload identifiable medical records or unnecessary personal health information. Evidence about individuals should be anonymised or redacted.
Tell us within 30 days if a court, tribunal or regulator finds that your organisation discriminated against a disabled person.
Reconfirm your membership every 12 months.
Reply to questions from Difability about your membership within 20 working days.
You can end your membership at any time. Difability can end it with a written reason, after giving you 10 working days to respond.

Where a register has it, we use the name the register shows.

The name people know your organisation by, if it is not the legal name.
